How to send your office to remote work

The Internet is literally overflowing with advice on “how an employee can work remotely,” and we decided to look at it from the management’s point of view.

We have long-standing experience in outsourcing, since most of our clients and partners are located in other cities and countries. And if you are faced with the fact that you need to send your office to work remotely, we will tell you what to do.

Provide employees with the necessary equipment: laptops, phones for calls, communication, Internet. Find a company and a specialist who can remotely help your employee make the necessary settings for all programs.

Agree on a schedule for communications. This can be like this:

  • 9:00 meeting (morning planning meeting)
  • 12:00-13:00 lunchtime (lunch)
  • 14:00-14:30 question time (questions about the work process)
  • 17:30 activity report (results of the day, reports)

This will help employees not to be distracted by household chores and feel the work rhythm.

It is important to make it clear that temporary work from home = work in the office and you are doing everything to make this process go smoother for all parties. An office employee who has become a remote worker against his/her will most likely not work as he/she should, if he/she works at all. Keeping him/her in good shape and the constant attention of management will be a good incentive to work, the only thing is not to overdo it. No need to ask about the results every half hour, just do it at a pre-agreed time

As practice shows, video conferences are not very effective, since many may get the impression that they are not trusted. Of course, if you are not a government agency working remotely, it may come to this))) Create a chat in Telegram, Skype or WhatsApp. By the way, Yandex chat has recently appeared - it is very similar in functionality to the banned TG. You can also use the Zoom service to hold conferences (up to 100 participants - free).

For faster adaptation, we recommend shortening the working day a little, since your subordinates still need time to go to the store or exercise. Working from home is not as easy as it seems, even if you have had such experience before. The difficulty is that there are relatives, children and pets nearby, who also suffer from the general excitement around quarantine measures.
